Ponytail Pillow

Hellow, it’s Monday again and I hope everyone had a great weekend. Today I would like to share with you a simple pillow DIY to solve a small daily problem (of mine, actually but I think many have encountered the same problem before), which you may have guessed what that is from the title. That’s right, it’s the ponytail. Being one of the easiest hairstyles, back ponytail has been my favorite hairdo (no, I think I’m just too lazy for a more complicated one). And to compensate for my laziness, I have to put up with the fact that I will not be able to lean my head against anything because of the stupid ponytail bump at the back of my head that won’t even let me sit comfortably when I’m reading a book on a sofa (with comfortable for me means sitting sluggishly like a slimy creature). And so this is what I did.

Lalu solusinya? Bagaimana bila mencoba solusi crafty berikut ini? :D

What you need:

  1. Fabric;
  2. Filling (I used sponge here);
  3. Sewing machine or needle & thread if you choose to hand-sewn it;
  4. Scissors.

Yang anda perlukan:

  1. Kain;
  2. Isi (saya menggunakan spons);
  3. Mesin jahit atau benang dan jarum jika anda menjahit tangan bantal ini.;
  4. Gunting.

Step 1: Cut the fabric and sponge into a donut shape. Adjust the position of the hole roughly to fit the height of your ponytail. The measurement goes like this:

Fabric outer diameter = sponge outer diameter (pillow size) + (thickness/2) + hem

Fabric inner diameter = sponger inner diameter – (thickness/2) – hem

Langkah 1: Gunting kain dan spons menjadi bentuk donat. Posisikan lubang di tengah sesuai tinggi ponytail anda. Pengukurannya kira-kira seperti ini:

Diameter luar kain =  diameter luar spons (ukuran bantal) + (tebal/2) + keliman

Diameter dalam kain = diameter dalam spons – (tebal/2) – keliman

Step 2: Sew or stitch the two sheets of fabric together (on the wrong side), leave an opening big enough for your sponge. Note: I just got a mini sewing machine and this is my first time sewing with a sewing machine, please overlook the bad sewing (._.);

Langkah 2: Jahit kedua lembar kain menjadi satu (pada sisi yang salah) dan jangan lupa untuk menyisakan sedikit ruang untuk memasukkan spons. Catatan: saya baru mendapat sebuah mesin jahit mini dan ini adalah pertama kalinya saya menggunakannya untuk membuat sesuatu, mohon ampun untuk jahitan yang tidak rapi ini (._.);

Step 3: Flip the fabric inside out and insert the sponge. Stack the sponge if you want a thicker pillow.

Langkah 3: Balikkan kain tersebut luar dalam dan masukkan sponsnya. Tumpuk spons bila anda ingin bantal yang lebih tebal.

Step 4: Close stitch both the opening and the inner circle and you are done.

Langkah 4: Tutup jahitan pada ruang pintu spons dan lingkaran dalam bantal dan selesailah bantal ponytail ini.

Have your ponytail go through the hole and lean back. You can now go back to your reading or take a nap. Problem solved! :)

Sandarkan kepala pada bantal dan biarkan ekor kuda anda melewati lubang tersebut. Sekarang anda dapat kembali membaca atau tidur siang. Masalah selesai! :)
