Eeek! I accidentally skipped Chinese New Year – theme craft and jumped straight to a Valentine post last week (OoO)”. To make up for that, here is a last minute CNY craft tutorial for all! Welcome the new monster member, the piggybank monster to join the club! (for new readers, you can check out the other members here). So why a piggybank when it’s a serpent year we are expecting? Some of you may have already guessed the answer for that and I’m pretty sure you hit it right, yeap, it’s to store the red pocket allowances you are receiving (if you are eligible or if not, for your kids!) throughout the 15-day celebration. Celebrating or not, everyone can make this cute piggybank to save those loose coins on your hands and start the saving habit from now :D Finally, for those who are celebrating CNY, which is only two days away, Happy Chinese New Year and may the water serpent be good to you! Gong Xi Fa Cai! :D

Ups! Saya tak sengaja melewatkan membuat craft bertema Tahun Baru Imlek dan langsung mempost topik Valentine minggu lalu (OoO)”. Untuk itu, postingan mepet ini dikhususkan untuk topik CNY yang mana juga merupakan perkenalan anggota baru klub monster yang ke-8 (untuk pembaca baru, dapat melihat anggota lainnya di sini). Ada apa dengan celengan babi ini? Tahun 2013 adalah tahun ular tetapi jujur, saya tidak ada ide untuk membuat sesuatu bertema ular, jadi sebagai gantinya saya membuat celengan babi ini untuk menyimpan hasil dari perjalanan kunjungan ke rumah famili saat imlek nanti yaitu ang pau :P Untuk yang tidak merayakan pun anda tetap bisa membuat celengan ini untuk memulai kebiasaan menabung! Akhir kata, bagi yang merayakan Tahun Baru Imlek, saya mengucapkan selamat tahun baru dan semoga tahun ular air ini menjadi tahun yang baik untuk semua! Gong Xi Fa Cai! :D

What you need | Yang anda butuhkan:

1. Felt | Flanel;
2. PVC pipe | Pipa PVC;
3. Cotton (filling) | Kapas (isian);
4. Ribbon [optional] | Pita [optional];
5. Scissors | Gunting;
6. Needle & thread | Jarum & benang;
7. Handsaw | Gergaji tangan.

Step 1: Get some felt (color of your own liking) and cut out the shapes like image above (I don’t know how to make a pattern properly so everything above is cut using the measure-cut-repeat method; sorry for not being able to provide the exact measurement!)

Langkah 1: Ambil flanel dengan warna favorit dan potong sesuai bentuk di atas (saya tidak tahu cara membuat pola yang benar, kesimpulannya semua potongan flanel di atas dibuat dengan mengandalkan feeling tanpa perhitungan pasti; maaf!)

Step 2: Cut a horizontal hole wide enough for your largest and thickest coin to go through on your PVC pipe.

Langkah 2: Buat lubang horizontal pada pipa yang dapat memuat koin terbesar anda (Rp. 500?).

Step 3: Sew the two body parts (rectangles with 4 half circles on the edges) together.

Langkah 3: Satukan 2 bagian tubuh (persegi panjang dengan 4 setengah lingkaran pada setiap sudutnya).

Step 4: Cover the pipe with the felt skin. Don’t forget to add some filling to the little legs so that they can stand.

Langkah 4: Lingkarkan flanel tadi pada pipa. Jangan lupa untuk menambahkan isian kapas pada kaki supaya kaki-kaki tersebut dapat berdiri tegak.

Step 5: Cut 4 triangular felt. Stitch two pieces together to make the ear for the piglet. Make 2 of this.

Langkah 5: Gunting 4 buah flanel berbentuk segitiga. Jahit 2 buah untuk membuat telinga. Buat 2 set.

Step 6: Get the soft pink eclipse felt and give it some nostril lines. Stitch the long side of the rectangle to the outer line of the eclipse.

Langkah 6: Beri jahitan lubang hidung pada flanel merah muda dan jahit flanel persegi panjang pada garis luar elips.

Step 7: Get one of the big circles and stitch the smiling pair of eyes. Stitch the nose onto it as well!

Langkah 7: Beri jahitan mata sipit pada salah satu flanel lingkaran besar dan satukan juga hidung yang telah anda buat tadi.

Step 8: Join the face and the ears to another big circle, add some filling in between and lastly join the whole head to the body.

Langkah 8: Satukan wajah dan telinga ke flanel lingkaran besar yang lain, beri isian di antaranya dan jahitkan kepala ke badannya.

Step 9: I hope you are not planning to smash the whole thing up when it is full though I must admit there is some fun in that. For that, use a zipper instead! Again, more stitching.

Langkah 9: Saya anggap anda tidak bermaksud untuk menghancurkan anak babi ini begitu celengan anda penuh. Karenanya, kita butuh resleting untuk mengeluarkan isinya dan memberi ruang baru untuk rezeki baru.

Step 10: Cut a small piece of rectangle, fold it in half and stitch it (making a bolster-like shape) fill it with some cotton and twirl it. Use some glue or more needle and thread to secure the shape. This will be the piglet’s tail.

Langkah 10: Gunting sepotong kecil flanel persegi panjang, lipat 2, jahit membentuk guling, isi dengan kapas, dan bentuk seperti kabel telepon. Gunakan lem atau jahitan untuk mempertahankan bentuknya. Ini akan menjadi ekor celengan babi ini.

Step 11: The 3rd big circle is connected to the other side of the zipper and the last big circle will have the tail freely hanging on it.

Langkah 11: Jahit lingkaran besar ke-3 pada sisi lain resleting tadi dan gantungkan ekor pada lingkaran besar terakhir.

And you are done! :D

Dan… selesai! :D
