Spring Bookmark

DIY Tutorial: Spring Bookmark | @onelmon

As a proud bookworm, I’ll never get enough of bookmarks, which is one reason why I’m still not getting myself a kindle ;-) To welcome the spring (and match the atmosphere), I made this flowery bookmark this week. I so wanted to use real flowers for this but I’ve yet to learn the alchemy on how to prevent flowers from wilting so thank you plastic flower for being here to fill the gap. I bought a stick of sakura (with a few branches and flowers in different sizes) which is now on sale because the blooming session is almost over. So, are your ready to prettify your book with some flowers?

What you need | Yang anda butuhkan:

  1. Plastic flowers | Bunga plastik;
  2. Elastic strap | Tali karet;
  3. Glue or needle & thread| Lem atau jarum & benang;
  4. Scissors | Gunting;
  5. [optional] Felt | Flanel;
  6. [optional] Faux pearl | Mutiara imitasi.

Step 1:
Snip off the plastic flowers from the twigs and cut a strip of elastic strap. Arrange the flowers as you like it and glue them on the elastic strap.

Langkah 1:

Step 2:
Step 2, 3 and 4 are actually optional but as I want to have one flower that will stand out from the others, I add some felt scraps and a faux pearl to it. If you have flowers with different colors, that would work too! With the felt, cut 5 pieces of flower’s petal shaped felt.

Langkah 2:
Potong 5 helai flanel berbentuk petal bunga pilihan anda.

Step 3:
Glue the felt at the back of the flower.

Langkah 3:
Rekatkan flanel pada bagian belakang bunga.

Step 4:
Glue or sew the faux pearl on top of the flower.

Langkah 4:
Rekat atau jahit mutiara imitasi pada bunga.

Langkah 5:
