The Boston Bandits (3-0) defeated the So. Maine Raging Bulls 10-2 in a defensive struggle on a hot and humid afternoon at English HS. The Bandits stumbled out of the gate, getting stuffed for losses on their two first runs, then bobbled a shot gun snap leaving them punting from their own end zone. When the long snap dribbled to the punter, the Bulls managed to get there as well for a quick 2-0 lead thanks to a safety. The Bandits would respond, however, working the ball downfield to the Bulls’ 22 yard line, before settling for a 39 yard FG by Ryan DeCamp and a baseball like 3-2 lead. LB Mike Massey would intercept an errant pass and it appeared to set up the Bandits for another score, however, a 42 yard FG sailed wide. DB Alvin Edwards’ first of two interceptions set up the Bandit offense again, this time QB Clarzell Pearl found a leaping Daryl Hodge open for a 30 yard touchdown catch. DeCamp’s PAT placed the score at 10-2 at the half. The Bandit defense continued to smother the Raging Bull offense behind hits from Leighton Lormeus and Marcus Merrit, along with stout line play from James Shaw, Corey Lovings, and Roberto Perez. The Bulls’ last gasp ended when rookie Jimmy Midgette and Basil Ledgister corralled the Bull QB for a game ending sack. The Bandits next travel to the So. Shore Outlaws on Saturday, August 2nd for a 7PM kickoff at Carver HS in Carver, MA.
